When I was starting out in law school, I absolutely knew there were certain types of law that I had no interest in, namely, criminal law, oil and gas law, and family law. So, my first job as an attorney was in a firm known for its criminal defense practice. Then I did a stint as an oil and gas landman. Now, I practice estate planning, elder law, and probate. Guess what? It’s family law. Most people don’t think of my practice as family law, but that is exactly what it is. 

My estate planning clients are protecting themselves, their spouse, and their children. Some of my clients are in the late stages of their lives and are making sure that their adult children can help them make decisions if they cannot do so themselves. When a loved one dies, the surviving family is left in a state of instability and my role is to help them sort it out and restabilize. My work is totally and completely about family: preparing for family, protecting family, and picking up the pieces after family is gone. Family is what is all about and I am so happy that I help my clients take care of their families.
